Flowers

The beauty of a flower is mesmerising to me. To paint the light that glows from within a flower and yet maintain depth in a painting is a nice challenge. I have a number of sketchbooks dedicated to flowers! Every time we have flowers in the house I need to paint them. They might be classified as Still Life but they are not still in any sense of the word. Alive and characterful, they light me up and our home!
I was addicted to painting flowers everyday, in particular Lilies, to capture their bud, bloom and decay. I ended up producing four large pieces of work from this project called the Four Seasons of Lillies.
